A next clear step.
During the wild collective energy of last week’s events unfolding, I felt stunned yet rooted.
What a peculiar feeling.
I think back to old versions of myself and wonder how she had existed. How would she react?
Exacerbated no doubt.
A slight rekindling of that familiar feeling was still there, deep and quiet. An old familiar feeling. A hint of anxiety.
From one shocking move from leadership to the next senseless media graphic of billionaire gestures that scrolled past my eyes, it became clearer and clearer to me: This platform is not aligned with me anymore.
Wise Woman with Sage Warnings
One of those sleepless nights I woke up and my brain was piecing a lot of information together. The bigger picture.
One of those pieces of information was a page in Maria Ressa’s book — How to Stand Up to a Dictator:
I finally understood on Wednesday what she was trying to share. A wise woman’s air of wisdom behind her warning words, learn from history or be doomed to repeat it.
The domino effect of social media's effect on Philippine society. She noticed that everything happened in the motherland first because Filipinos embraced social media with open arms, and how it shaped their political landscape. Then the rest of the world would follow suit. The unique broad view and perspective of leadership who have learned to use that power to mold the political opinion of the populace. And how said power was used during the Duterte presidency — too horrific to repeat. I do encourage the read. It's very insightful.
And we are doing things differently now. Peering into the past is so important. I’ve done my fair share and will continue to do so to aim for a more brilliant and aligned future where everyone can thrive.
How do we use the knowledge of the past without taking it with us and perpetuating the same future that Maria Ressa warns us about?
Our systems were built on trauma. Trauma only creates more trauma. Hurt people hurt people.
Where are most folks' levels of operations? Fear, anxiety, grief, despair, anger.
Taking action and operating out of these feelings only perpetuate and spread and further anchor our current systems.
And people don’t usually change their actions until they’ve had enough of their own bullshit and patterns. I know, I’ve shared my fair share of moments here.
Change was Always Here
A lot of things are changing and shifting in this moment and season of humanity. We have Pluto in Aquarius for its first solid year. The last time Pluto switched signs The Great Recession took place.
Pluto is always here with us to look into the dark depths of our collective soul and to release what's not working anymore. Shedding of misaligned and maladaptive ways of being.
Change is here to stay. It was always there. We collectively chose not to acknowledge its existence. Pluto is Change.
It demands our change. It doesn’t ask. It demands.
My right and clear next and different step (change) was to delete Facebook and Instagram this morning. I wanted to give my time and energy to platforms that feel aligned with honoring the community as a whole and its individuals. SubStack is one of those places for me.
And let this one step ripple out. One tiny change has more impact than we humanly understand.
Falling Empire Dreams
During the Pandemic historians started cueing up the fact that most empires fall at 250 years. This year America will turn 249. I remember coming across that information and feeling a sense of mortality wash over me and dread.
Now I’m looking at this information again. Spirit saw to it that it would come into my sphere again. I'm observing it from a more Peaceful (not fearful) state of presence, and I think wow, we get to start over again.
It’s become clear over the years that the systems in place do not work anymore. I shared in a recent podcast episode an analogy of what occurred during the Pandemic. It was akin to your ill relative’s life-altering health event, the damaging effects on finances, and the other parts of their lives. Nothing happens in a vacuum, and America had no buffer or foundation to stand on to start with built on misaligned colonial viewpoints.
A system without a foundation meant for a collective thriving life was always doomed to fail. And this gives me hope.
I find peace in the continuing changes into our collective future will only help shape our societies for the betterment of Mother Nature and the world as a whole. Division, fear, hatred, anxiety, guilt, despair. These were never the answers.
From a space of joyful, peaceful, loving prosperity, I see past the necessary challenging parts of a whole community in commune with Mother Nature. Abundance is all around. Isn’t that dreamy? Isn't that the big vision?
Lol, some of you might be thinking I’m not being realistic at all. But all of what we see started off as a dream and in the imagination first, so why not peek in there and see what wants to be possible?
